Modification to '68 fog light mounts...
« on: April 14, 2012, 09:14:10 PM »
Not "concours" so posting here...

Doing up a Shelby-ized '68 coupe. Looking into using Marchal style brackets, as on the Cal Special's, to get the fogs "floating" in the grille, and not pedestal mount.  Have the new repro Marchals, a pair of GT/CS repro brackets and the Shelby grille and front end.

So a subtle change from original, but I really like the look of the "floating" fogs on the early GT/CS.  Know the grille will need to be cut and not sure how the expanded mesh will like that, may need a frame of some sort fabricated.  And the grille does not have a lip/frame as on the OEM Mustangs to rivet the bracket in place.

So kinda "Franken-fogs".  Shelby grille/front end, repro Marchals, and a GT/CS bracket to merge into one look, without looking kludged...

Anyone seen it or done it?   Tips. tricks or suggestions?

The original mesh grill had windlace around the upper edges to protect the coarse cut. Maybe something similar around grill opening cuts?
