« on: November 15, 2012, 10:35:13 AM »
Hi, anyone with early 64.5 parts, looking for:

4bbl carby (autolite 4100) and intake manifold
Falcon style front seat belts (with spartan pattern chrome buckle)

only interested in part numbers starting with C3, C4, if C4 the manufacturer date mid march or before, and yeah I guess i know it's a long shot...

Cheers

Dom

What date range are you looking for on the 4V intake manifold?

Hey Charles,
Given the scare numbers out there I'd be interested in anything before or early March 64 given the build date is 24th March, what are your thoughts from one Caspian to another?
Greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Dom

If you have the other engine components, like heads and block, I'd be looking at the casting dates of those to get a general feel of where the dates are.  Remember that the door plate date is just a guess to when the car would be built.  Depending on options/colors and priority, it could have been built days/weeks before or after.  Although, during early production, there might not have been quite as much variance as we're used to seeing later on in production.  Just an opinion.

As far as the date casting of the intake, late February/early March would most likely be acceptable.  I would have to defer to Bob Mannel's book on small-block's to make sure on the engineering cast numbers.  You're most likely contending with a part that was installed on other Ford's at the time, not just Mustang.  So, maybe not as scarce as you'd think.

I have a few 4V intakes, can check them if you like.

Hi Charles,
Thanks for your advice, at least it doesn't limit me to looking for Mustang only part numbers.
I'll make a note to check the other casting numbers, the engine was running but it was only the intake and carby that had been swapped out (2V manifold off a C8zz, and carby C9zz) I do recall my block being a C4xx but the exhaust manifolds were C3xx, I do have Bob's book so I'll check through that as well for the casting dates on the heads.
If you could check those intakes you have I really appreciate it.
Thanks again,
Dom

Did you decide what date codes you're looking for and the engineering number?

Charles, i'd probably want to stick with a late '63 or very early 64 manufacture date, something in the range of Oct 63 to Feb 64...
I say I'd be safe with that...

Found a 4D7 intake today and got excited, but then saw it was a 2V... bugger.  Don't think I have any others, but will keep an eye out.

Thanks to all those that have posted, I've managed to source both the seat belts and intake manifold. On to the next items on the list...
