67 GT Grille fog light support bracket color
« on: October 13, 2018, 01:40:38 PM »
I’m refishing the grille on my 67 GT. My understanding after searching through posts and unrestored pictures is:
- the grille is to be painted before the vertical supports, fog light supports and top brackets are installed (I’m using NPD’s 67 bluish grey metallic for that)
- the 3 vertical support brackets as well as the two top brackets get riveted in (1/8 x 1/8 steel semi tubular rivets)
- fog light support brackets installed using u nuts and screws

My question: are the 3 vertical brackets, the two top brackets and the fog light supports all semi gloss black? Or is there some other finish to be applied?

All semi-gloss but I believe they were originally dipped (not sprayed).

Does NPD have this paint available now?

... How can one tell dipped from sprayed?

Not easy at a glance but typically you will notice runs, drips at corners and such. You can give them a light spray coat, let tack-dry and hose them heavy and get similar results out of a spray can too.
