Topic: 1982 GT factory correct battery

i am currently in the process of restoring my 1982 gt and am wondering if you guys would happen to know what the correct factory group battery is that fits the 1982 gt. i have done quite a bit of digging around on the internet and am getting all sorts of different answers as to what the correct battery is. Also with that being said does any one have an original date coded battery from 1982 that the would wanna part with. I really would liek to try and find an original to put in while i am at the MCA shows and buy a newer motorcraft battery for when i drive the car. any information would be a help thanks.

You could try posting wanted over at four eyed pride.com

Some have tried making their own depending on the class. I don't think it would fool judges but it looks nice.  It's worth having an original in unrestored class but for other classes the points lost may be minor. I would typically go with just a new Motorcraft and not worry about it outside of unrestored and Thoroughbred.

There may be more info on this site as to the top color. I know 84 and up were black top.
There may have been different colored tops and warranties for 71-83.
