Title: Concours Restorations
Post by: vetteman on June 23, 2010, 05:54:03 PM
I wanted to find out if the judging criteria for a Concours Restoration is going to be changed or modified to include the original OEM Phosphate finish for all nuts, bolts, hood hinges, and attachment parts using the original manufacturers finish process using manganese phosphate. In speaking to a MCA member, he indicated that to earn top points for the Gold Concours scoring, the finish must be done using the original manganese phosphate solution. There are a few suppliers still left that offer the original material that gives the proper charcoal finish, but I am not sure of the correct one to use. I heard Palmetto Enterprises is one of the best solutions to use. Has anyone ever used their solution?

There have been talks of requiring proper finishes on parts in the Concours Trailered division.  As of right now, nothing official.

There's several places to buy phosphate.  Either zinc or manganese can be used.  I like to buy from:  www.midwayusa.com
