Does anyone make a good reproduction smog hose set for 428CJ?
« on: September 01, 2020, 11:05:22 AM »
The lettering / numbers just fall off the current crop of repros. Originals had the lettering deeply embossed and painted - those are much more sturdy. Is there any solution to this problem?

The set up for the original process is too expensive for the small runs I have heard. I wish I had some positive insight on a alternative other then be careful not to rub on the ink when cleaning . Test any cleaning product on a inconspicuous area before use. The ink does not stand up to a aggressive cleaners well at all.

I have not cleaned the hose at all - nor touched it. The lettering / number are just falling off a hose that is about 18 months old. Weird thing - they stay on the short S - bent hose and the short hose in front.

It sounds like the surface was prepped properly before they applied the ink. Typically the repro hoses do not have the lettering/numbers falling off. They will rub off easily but I haven't heard of your problem before.
