1964 1/2 master cylinder cap
« on: December 03, 2023, 01:34:00 PM »
Is this one?  It looks very similar to my '64 Corvette J56 brake's cap.

I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.

Thank you, amazing the two are identical. But now I guess I have to paint this pretty copper item that ugly semi-gloss black to match the master cylinder to please the judges......

Possibly both are Bendix units. The pits on the Chevy cap are stock -  ;)

Painted black - not to please judges but to make it look like they originally did. Other choices are find and its "your car" but just don't refer to it as restored.  :)

I knew you'd like that.  Of course I know it is supposed to be as original from the factory and like my Corvettes and my judging, I have no problem with that. This similarity is pretty significant information in the Corvette world. The original Z06 in 1963 had a cap like this on the first dual circuit master cylinder Zora put on these cars to go with the ventilated metallic brakes used in racing. It is not painted on the Z06, just natural copper, as the MC is cadmium. Anyway, very interesting.
