65 coil mount and trunk latch finish

December 10 build date Dearborn plant.

Would the coil clip be phosphate and oil ?
Same question for the bottom trunk striker plate latch ?

Any other parts that should be phosphate and oil ?
I going to be doing my hood hinges and latch soon...

Believe a dulled zinc plating will serve well in a restoration. Have not tested the plating to determine original finish

Tons. What comes to mind are many nuts and bolts, some use it as a base for duplicating heat treated cast parts, hood latch

Were you referring to the coil mounting bracket or the Trunk striker ?

"Coil clip"? Would that be the coil bracket? I have a coil and bracket sitting on my desk. The coil is a "glossier" black as is the bracket. The coils has a date code of "5CDC" (?) in silver stamping ink and some of the stamping has transferred to the black painted bracket. Sorry, don't know which plant.
Other examples indicate the bracket to be "sort of natural/phosphate and oil", which I believe was more the case for 1967 models. The special bolt and nut clamping the coil should be painted if the bracket is. The original bolt/screw apparently does not have a Ford hardware part number. I've assigned it "UNK23" for use in the spreadsheets (service is 27185-S2(or -S8) but that is incorrect, different head). The nut is 34079-S7. Your choice on finish.

My first attempts on the trunk striker were to plate it a clear (shiny) zinc finish, then try to "dull" it. About 5 years ago, a "dull zinc" finish was introduced in the plating industry (my zinc plater is second generation, and I used his father's shop 30 years ago when I worked for a living). Dull zinc "replicates" a cad finish (OSHA controls this process very tightly) and/or galvanized, but I don't see the "garbage can" type galvanized finish on the striker.
Read "Phosphate 101" in "Process, Products & Techniques" in the library before, and during, any Phosphating is attempted.

65/66 coil brackets were typically painted black as mentioned. Starting sometime early after 67 production started the coil brackets finish was changed to phosphate and oil which is the most typical finish after that point.
