I have rebuilt numerous master cylinders in my life but not one for 1969 Gt 500. Do I have to remove the screw on the bottom of the body to get the piston out of the bore? I don't want to mess anything up without knowing for sure?

Yes, and upon reassembly, you must fully press the FIRST piston in BEYOND that set screw (by pressing against the sping, like using a somewhat long Phillips screwdriver or a 1/4" extension bar to depress the piston)
...this HAS TO BE DONE PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF THE SECOND PISTON
