Found out my oil pan has a .030 oversized drain plug installed. Does anyone make an oversize that looks OEM? How are the repro pans (as far as correctness)? Thanks

I found the same thing on the 68 coupe that I am working on...5/8-inch pan plug!! From What I have seen, the repros do not have the FoMoCo logo stamped into the pan.

Thanks Pete. Other than the FoMoCo can you tell a repro pan from an original?

Tim I can not remember but inside the oil pan is there any kind of extra metal where the plug goes into the oil pan. I have seen where the pans almost had something like a nut inside them. You could weld a littte extra metal piece inside the oil pan and then drill and tap for the original style drain plug. Let me know if we can help you with that.

I see where VA Classic Mustang now sells a repro small block pan with the FoMoCo stamp. They claim it to be exact. You might want to give Brant a call and get a "test" try.

Pete, where did you see that? I can't find it on their website and I called and girl that answered says she has nothing that matches that description. Are you looking at the big block one?

Tim, I can get you an original if you want one. might not be perfect but will be original.

Thanks John. I think I will take Keith's suggestion and weld a nut inside. Sounds like a good fix.

My error...too much burbon at the time. You are correct that the FoMoCo repro pan is for the big blocks, not the small blocks. Take the weldiing a bolt route to fix your pan.
