Title: 65 T-10, Ford shifter, Ford shift rods and driveshaft
Post by: Bossbill on July 14, 2023, 02:33:58 PM
65 Mustang T-10, Ford shifter box, Ford linkage, rear mount with bolts, original driveshaft, driver handle and early shift ball (chrome so so). Like most T-10s it pops out of 2nd on decel. Otherwise it worked well.

$1250 $1150 plus shipping (which should be fun and expensive).

Breakdown of how I priced this thing.

Trans, on the low side, is $500 alone for a Mustang trans with correct tail shaft. It also has all the correct 65 numbers.
Decent shifter boxes are in the $250 area.
T-10 shifter rods sets (incl arms) are approx 200-250 for all three.
Driveshaft yokes are in the area of $150 (25 spline); here is the whole driveshaft which worked well when I drove it.

The above totals 1100 without you having to go out and find these pieces.

New price is therefore $1100.

Minus, of course, the cost of a new second gear (and possible third gear as well) synchros. Labor extra. It's "feature" of T-10 transmissions.

Jim -- yes.

Any one of the T-10s with any miles could have a pop out issue. I've read about the various fixes, all of which require a rebuild. This trans shifted well and had no other noise or other issues.

What got this started was a) the restomod gets a different trans and I'm tired of tripping over this thing. My shelf full of T-5 parts (4 trannies?) is next; b) I had the phone number of a guy last month who was "very interested" and then disappeared. Same thing with various other parts.

Bill,
I raced (strip and street) a 64 Fairlane 500 Sportscoup 289 HP that had a T-10, the only 4 speed available at the time, and blew the second gear synchros twice, fortunately covered by the Ford dealership. I really liked that car, but "intelligence" caught up to me and I bought a 66 Mustang 2 plus 2. It had a toploader.

My 65 is getting a TKX.
Using the MCA modifications sheets I've gone well past the sheets they supply and I now use a large spreadsheet.

The T-10 I'm selling is meant for Concours.
