Post by: 66candy on November 11, 2013, 06:15:13 PM
Found this on Youtube

Stock Footage - TV Ad - Ford Mustang 2 2 1965  (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1t6Ga3KqyU)

Watch at 0:40. Is it me or is the fuel filler tube painted red like the body?

Most likely a studio or pre-production/test fastback build.  Noted ribbed reinforcements in the fold-down that I've never seen before.  Couple other early cues, like straight handle shifter and square corner sill plates.  Also looks like a cloth trunk mat and plate light wiring routed to other side.

Later, the shot of the 289 hi-po emblem is the tall-style, which doesn't appear to have made it into Mustang production.

The last couple of seconds showed a T-Bird type tail light with a sequential turn activated. Strange.

Just another example why these cars are poor sources for Concours details when restoring ;)

The may have been painted two or three times during its usage as a protype, displays and presale purposes - Not that unusual
