unrestored class?
« on: April 06, 2010, 12:34:43 AM »
Hi Guys,
I have a 1997 cobra convert. with 26000 miles the car is very clean and has gotten concours gold in the last four MCA shows that I have taken it to. My question is if I put the card in unrestored class what would I lose with a Light bar and rear lettering inserts, all other parts are stock. I am looking to put the car in the grand national in Seattle in July. Any thoughts?

I personally know this car. It is in pristine condition and has been well preserved. In my humble opinion as a Gold Card Judge I would deduct 1 point for the lightbar and 1 point for the "Cobra" embossed insert lettering. Here's where it gets to be a sticky point. Some dealers put the lettering on these cars at the dealership. But in the Unrestored Class, the car has to be the way it rolled off the factory floor. My thoughts.....2 point deduction.

Make sure you have the original battery and tires/valve stems or you will lose points. even if you have to bring a dead battery like I do.
