Revisiting this post.  The "correct" one has an Autolite script instead of S.M.CO.

Picture EC-24 shown here is a bit hard to see, but I can imagine seeing Autolite as well: http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?topic=17981.msg114062#msg114062

Can someone double confirm that is what I'm looking for to be factory correct?

Also, is the cap pictured in the attachment factory correct for anything in the Mustang or Ford world - it has the S.M.Co stamp?

Here's the one I purchased last year at Marti autoworks.
when looking closer to the pictures that Jeff posted it seems that the initials 'RS-12' and '#3' must been placed vice verse (for the first picture)
but are placed correctly regarding to picture 5, with a slight detail that the initial 'RS-12' should be rotated 180°.
Just an observation, not knowing at all if it makes any difference for judging  ;)

Kind of recall something about the "flopped" location of the #13 and the RS-12 but can't recall what we came up with in the past. As far as judging - not really the focus - more what was correct and originally used ;)

Not what I meant. Let me try it again. The focus in general,  here on the site is firstly how the cars were originally done rather than worrying about how a judge will respond to a detail - unless the thread asked specifically about judging or rules as we do in those sections. Instead and since the goal of most of the classes is to restore a car as it was originally assembled it in turn should do well in judging and any rules should reflect the original details like we're discussing.

Kind of the horse and the cart discussion with originality being the horse ;)

Would expect any judge in any restored class to pay attention to details such as the radiator cap as well as allot more. Its the details that make for a good car.
