Smog pump adjusting arm/bracket with no part number?
« on: June 08, 2022, 04:59:32 PM »
I was going through my smog pile and came across this pump bracket.  It looks like a Boss 302 bracket but there is no stamping any where on it. Is it a worthless piece of metal or a rare and priceless exotic find? I figure you guys would know.

Check the illustrations related to alternators and smog equipment in Ford Car Parts (aka MPC), copies of which are located in this forum's library to see if you can determine what it is.

Going to be difficult to figure out with out some identification/engineering numbers on it since that style of bracket was used from at least 68-74 on many applications

To help with your search the base number for the part is 9B452 but unfortunately the MPCs I have show no specifications for the arms only list a few with identifying engineering numbers. The 69 version only shows 7 styles identified that way

I have been looking for a similar bracket for my 74 Mustang smog pump. It's a rare piece as it's CA only. I spotted the Boss brackets and their prices. I stay away from them.

Last week at Carlisle, I found a similar bracket next to some Boss brackets. I thought they looked very similar. The one I bought said 351 C. For $10, I took a chance or maybe I could modify it.

Looking at your pictures, yours is reversed from mine. Possibly reversed from a Boss bracket as well. That said, I would think it goes on the other side of the engine (drivers side). That might make it a 6 cylinder bracket, is my guess.

I just found this on ebay. The number on the part is DOVE-9B452-A with a Ford oval after it. Similar but not exact to what you have pictured. Jeff's partial number he provided was spot on:
