C4 Transmission Part#
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:43:25 PM »
Is the correct part# for a 1967 C4 transmission C4ZR? Is this the same trans that goes in a 67 Shelby GT350?

Per the Ford Car Parts book, there are two 289CID C4 tranmissions used on Mustangs in 1967, type PEE-C for non-HPs, and PEE-K for HP applications. I would assume the latter would apply to GT-350s also. There is no regular part number attached to the transmission (like C7ZB-7000-A) but shortend some what strange number that includes the assembly plant part number, a service level and build date code with the shift. Where did the C4ZR come from?

Are you asking what the part number for a complete trans would be?  Or a specific casting/engineering number?

Hi Jim,
The part number C4ZR came from a C4 set up for sale from All Classic Mustangs. I have a Hurst right now and would like to convert back to stock.
Hi Jeff,
I would like to convert the trans in my 67 GT350 back to stock. I don't know what parts I need to make this happen.

Fortunatly for you the 67 GT350 C4 wasn't as drastically different from stock as the 66 GT350 version was. Bob

Well you have a choice - find an original or build one that looks like the original and has better performance.
