Rad Hoses
« on: March 17, 2015, 04:11:17 PM »
I'm looking for the upper and lower Rad hose for my 68 GT500.  Build date 13 Feb 68.  I notice that some say FOMOCO and some say Autolite, both with C8 part numbers.  I believe the Autolite is correct for my car, but I'm not sure.  Anyone know for sure?

The hoses for my '67 500 don't show C8 numbers, but a C5AE upper and C7ZE lower marked FoMoCo. Your hoses should be marked Autolite AYP and will have a prefix of: C8OE upper and C8ZE lower. You'll also have the wire clamps Vs. the Witteks to my recollection.

Keith,
OK that what I though, there are a lot on people that sell what they say is correct, but they sometimes are different.  I don't know if this is a early/late thing or not.

You might consult Mr. Speegel or Mr. Gaines. They would be the absolute, however that has been my observation over the years. The latter two gentlemen could confirm if there were abnormalities during the production run. The '67 vehicles seem to be full of run changes over the year, especially the Shelbys.

Gary, I did a little bit of "shopping" for your hoses. The only ones I noted with the numbers you supplied were from CJ Pony Parts. I would suggest you PM Bob Gaines or Jeff Speegle for conformation. You'll note responses all over the forum. There may be early and late year, or someone just plain screwed the reproductions up. They are really the resident experts. I hope that helps.

Not Mr Speegle or Gaines but hopefully I qualify as want to be  ;D
Both C8 marked would be Autolite and for Feb car both wire or tower clamps OK

tim sounds like you want to be "a bob wanta be"  or a "jeff wanta be"   :)    did late 68 big blocks say c8we  fomoco  like 69 dearborns tim?  as I have assembly line c8we & c8ze upper hoses but I made stamps off the c8we as that's what I see on 69s  sincemustang & cougar share same hoses do you think thedifferences in eng #s means the stapled wire clamps vs the tower clamps used in some 68s?

Different part numbers and engineering numbers would match what was done in other applications. Without these differences the plant would not know which one they would be receiving

Jeff the Tim wan-ta-be :)
