73 Instrument light bulbs

Hi every one. I am about to take apart the instrument panel on my 73 Convertible. Half of the bulbs are burned out and I am going to replace them all. Does any one have recommendations or thoughts as I understand the dash was dim to begin with. I would like to see my gauges on the way home from cruise nights! Does any one have opinions on the LED bulbs offered? Thanks!!

Don't believe the instrument lights were dim originally but sure we are looking at them with 2020 eyes and not 50 years ago.
As far as the Chinese LEDs being offered they may brighten it up a bit. Don't know the failure rate

There was a similar "dimness" of instrument panel lights on a 1969 Mustang. The solution was to "improve" the grounding. I don't know if the 73 design is the same as the 69 type (a circuit board type), but that "may" be the problem.

Did install LED's in a 70 last year. They are much brighter than the old bulbs. Had to also change the blue lenses as they were melted somewhat, the led's won't fit if it lens is deformed. Do not replace the Alternator bulb.

Hello and thanks for input and replies! believe the dim lighting was an issue from new at least what I read in Mustang Monthly. The 71 to 73 cars do have the circuit board in them so i think I might go LED and replace everything back there!
