Last month went to check on progress on the 65. I was surprised how rust free this car is (not ever been restored).
A few pictures attached. The Shop also had a disc ready with several hundred pictures. They are documenting everything they are doing.

Looks really nice in pics. Why are the front bumper arms still on? That's a hospital visit waiting to happen, lol.
-
Tom - When and where was the car built?
Makes the pictures more relevant to others ;)

So Dearborn car?? Noticed the hanging chad mid cowl to firewall pinchweld and second rotation number on the cross member ;)

Early style rad support with the vent holes by the battery too

Early style Dearborn would have had the louvers like this

Oval vent holes to the passenger side of the louvers were a design feature through 1965 and 66 (late 66 shown below)

I've been there and done that, and it only took one time before those bumper arms started coming OFF! :D

Good! Been around restorations enough to know better! :o :D

I think this has been discussed before but looking at the front-on pic, the brackets for the convertible "stress" bars mounted to the forward firewall aprons , show one inverted from the other?? What gives?? Could this have been done from the factory or a PO??? Even though I do not own a convertible I am always wanting to learn the "ways of the force" when it comes to the Mustang hobby! ;D

that is the correct position for those bars. looks odd but that's the way it was done.

+1, the battery side is flipped up for additional clearance. Believe this is the reason the shorter bars were introduced in '66.
The end of the bars actually mount opposite too... the driver side usually has the brace lying on top of the bracket and the passenger side it goes underneath. I've seen the bolt make contact with the bottom of the hood if the brace is placed on top of the bracket on the passenger side.

Learned something new ! Thanks :)

Of course there are no louvers to aid in cooling the generator. Thanks for the correction Jeff. Oops!

Looks great Tom! at least you'll save rather than seeing it go toward sheetmetal replacement ;)

It didn't even cross my mind Jeff, please advise punishment and back to Tom's beautiful GT.
Tom, what's next, are you going to media blast?
-
Update on my 65, Went to look at it after media blast. I'm still amaze how rust free this car is, they did not blast rear quarters, they want to work them by hand. What I thought interesting after the removal of fenders and seam sealer and after blasting, able to see the 2 extra Vin # on each side.
(note:they did leave bumper supports on, guess not to worry about busting their shins)
