When I left you last (I think) the car had returned from the upholsters (headliner), so now the roll bar is in place

Quarter panel scoop ducting added

Bottom mounting hardware that attaches the roll bar to the inner door jamb surface (for lack of a better term)

Rear interior panels have been fitted and attached and the trap door prepped for installation.

Not ready for the fold down  yet but was refinishing the attaching bolts (to the floor brackets ) and found that like the fold down latch retaining bolts these were also dyed red as a reminder to the worker to torque them correctly (a big focus that started in 68 for some reason)

Folddown latch installed - we found the red dye on these mounting bolts also

Often over looked is a small piece of the “extra” sound deadener found on sportroofs’ and Mach’s

A larger piece of this stuff was installed on top of the rear package tray (metal bracing)  but below the package tray on non-fold down 69-70 sportroof and Mach Is. On fold down cars a thin section of this product can often be found sandwiched between the rear interior panel and the fiberglass panel just below the rear window.

A close up of the surface of the stuff

Been prepping the quarter windows for installation (waiting for one small piece to return from the platter)  In the mean time we’re trying to figure out if the kit they supplied is wrong or that they just include the hardware for the passenger side (lock post, lock handle and divider gasket) and expect you to use them on both sides…

Until next time  ……………….

Been working on the interior. Car was sent out so the head liner could be installed.

Sail panels being prepped as parts from the original panels are mounted on the new ones.

Installed the reproduction underlayment - which required some cutting and remolding over the trans tunnel to eliminate wrinkles and bumps :(

Here is an overshot of the front underlayment. The small Mach I/Grande inserts that go under the seat had to be made from some additional material since they are not included

A few of the dash area

Shot of the pedal area and heater area

A sticker and date stamp we found on the original steering column that were redone during restoration

Shot of the gauge pod with date stamp and inspector label

Notice that the blackout used for the gauge inserts looked blue (like the hood blackblack on Boss 302's that year) when thin

The shop built a stand that we used to hold the lower dash as it was assembled - worked well!!

Gauges and dash go together

NOTE: Due to digital picture differences woodgrain in the picture below look more like the early 69 tone than the later (darker) it really is.

Interior gets more parts and panels installed - hopefully for the last time ;)

While we are in the interior here is a picture of an original steering wheel cover that all 69-70 Shelby's used to cover the rim blow steering wheel.
