Title: Wire harness retainer clips for export brace
Post by: mdavis on April 15, 2016, 11:26:39 AM
Can anyone tell me what clips were used on the Shelby export brace for the harness?

1st, welcome, I'm sure you can get your questions answered here.

2nd: You will need to supply much more information then you have about the car you are working on. The "Shelby" export brace by itself isn't enough.

66 coupe 289 2v factory 4speed. Ive added the export brace and noticed the clips from the original braces wont fit. Wondered if the Shelbys used specific clips or not. My car wont be Concours by any means, but I sure dont want to ziptie things

Most of the time, at this site we try and stick closer to Concours replies to such topics. This helps avoid confusion when people might take a reply here on this forum and mis-use the answer on a car that DOES go to judged events for Concours.

To get the best responses for non-Concours...most of the other Ford & Mustang sites generally will offer very good advise.

Now, with that being said, I'll offer that many of the Mustang Parts suppliers offer  period correct bend-straps you maybe can use.(Virginia Classic, NPD, are some who contribute here on this site)

Possibly somebody can chime in with a good recommendation.

Adding an export brace is a good idea for a 50 year old car. It provides extra stiffness to the front end which reduced cracks in the metal frame and welds. It is easily removed and replaced with the factory brace for shows which many of us do. For the wiring, I use a couple of 372047-S100 clips, which is the one the factory used for the choke cable on the regular RH firewall-fender brace. The specified clip, 372303-S100 is just a bit too tight but can "sometimes" be forced to fit. I recommend the 372047-S100 (AMK B-10726, $4 for 2).

None.  Many owners slapped on nylon ties or some electrical tape over the years

If you're running a lead down the export brace/tower braces, the clips were 3 X 379061-S and one of a C3SB-14A163-B. The Shelby uses two tiewraps,351053-S.
AMK offers the 379061-S in a package of four under part number B10974. They are 4.00. The C3SB-14A163-B is not available in reproduction.
The Tiewrap is available from AMK as well as part number B10981 They come in a quantity of eight for 3.00.

AMK is open 0900-1600 EST Mon-Friday. Their phone number is:540.662.7820.  Fax: 800.518.2871.

Keith don't believe those were used on a 66 Mustang with an export brace but instead later cars. If he wants to copy later cars he could also use the rubber straps and metals push throughs also

Since its not original and just being added for owner preference I would suggest you save your money and just use standard zip ties from the hardware store

Jeff,
I wasn't aware of wiring on any 65-66 vehicle. However, with that said it would look more on the correct side with the AMK offerings. I gave him the information for the 67-8 Hood lamp wiring, and also the 1967 Shelby Ammeter wiring tie wraps as an alternative.
No claim to correct, just trying to make it look like it belongs.
