Title: 1967 10X 2.5" rear brake shoe hold down kit issues.
Post by: 1967 eight barrel on February 06, 2018, 12:07:35 AM
When I re-assembled my rear brakes I noticed an issue with the hold down nails and retainers. I went back and tried three different kits, all with the same issues. I used the shorter pins with different spring retainers and was able to get them on. However, the current issue seems to be that the shoes are dragging a when they are released. Does anyone have a kit with the correct ones, or a kit manufacturer and number for ones that will work correctly. A total measurement on length of the correct hold down nail for the 10X2.5 shoes.

10 x 2-1/2 inch rear brakes? Do you have 2-1/2 inch backing plates?

Stock in 1967 was 1-3/4 inch.

He's either got an Econoline, station wagon or we take apart his online moniker and assume he has a 67 Shelby GT500 (Eight Barrel) with the larger rear brakes.

This all gets easier with a signature.

It's a Shelby, 10X2.5 is what it came with. Yes.

Kurt, Thank you for the heads up. All the old time parts houses have gone by the wayside and the chain stores are stocked with incompetent employees who lack the drive or interest to look up anything that requires the use of paper catalogs. I just ordered them.
