Title: 71 - Side Rear windows
Post by: nham3407 on September 30, 2010, 02:24:14 PM
I may just be getting lazy and looking for the easy way to get this answer.  Could you get manual roll down rear side windows on the 71 Sportsroof/Mach 1?  I know you could only get them in power on that body style in 72, but I am trying to sketch out a future project.  Any feedback would be appreciated

To my knowledge, only power quarter windows were operable on sports roof vehicles 1971-73.

Not sure if you are doing a stock resto or restomod, but have read that you can get the regulators and mechanism out of a coupe and make the rear windows operable without power windows. Just a thought if you are only concerned with functionality.

Thank you for the responses.  I have to be honest in that this is not going to be an original restoration.  I was able to pick-up a Sprint package 72 fastback body for $200.  Once I get my 72 mach 1 completed, my attention is going to turn to a 71 - 72 Pro Street car.  I have an extra Cleveland that is going to get an Aries blower and I plan to tub out the rearend and install a four link.  I doubt I will race the car, but one never knows.  My intent is going to be a street legal monster.  It will be a close restomod, but bad a-- is the intent.  First things first to get the Mach 1 done though.
