I read on here about the letter in the tag that identifies whether it was Black or Teal/Blue Pump. I am trying to find how to identify if the pump is dated correct for the car. The tag is hard to read and it doesn't appear to be a regular type of date code. Does anyone know how to read this tag to determine its date? Mine has a "W" in the second space which indicates it is a "Black: pump but I need to know if its the original but determining if the tag gives assembly date of pump. Thanks Tag appears to read HBA BF top line 3 W 28 second line.

3 W 28
March 2nd possibly 1968 Woolridge plant
Or as printed
March- Woolridge plant- 2nd day of month-Year last digit

Would it be common to have a pump made that far prior to the cars production date? Pump being March 3 68 and car being March 28 69 ??

I just looked at it under another light and there is also a 9 on there so the bottom shows 3 W 28 9 Would that be March 28 69 then like the car?

The last number should the year so 1969 would be one of the possibilities - and the 28th would be the day of the month. Not a great "fit" date wise with the car unfortunately
Didn't check to see if the other numbers were a fit for your application either at this point.

I agree. Seems to close to build date to have shown up on the same day the car was built. Makes more sense of a dealer install since the car didn't sell until June 69 and was possibly added then which would be more likely. IMHO

Yes the pump being built/completed at TRW on the same day the car was finished would be too late for it to have been original to the car.

The good part is that you only need the tag. Try and find one with a January 1969 or December 1968 date code. It's nearly impossible to see when installed so maybe not too important to you.

Good call. Will keep my eye open
