Title: 1965 NOS Fastback trunk seal....correct or not???
Post by: mustangpedalcar on March 07, 2011, 05:41:51 PM
What is the correct trunk seal used on the 65/66 Fastback.  Attached are pictures of an NOS seal which I believe to be incorrect.

Everything I have read says that the guys who try to use an NOS one, can never get their trunk to shut.
Word is the Scott Carpenter repros give the most original OEM look and feel.

Many times later service replacements although new old stock differ from assemblyline parts. Bob

i agree.....a lot of service replacement parts are different from original plant used parts.  In this case, what would be 100% concours correct for the trunk seal in thoroughbred class and also concours class.  I understand these 2 answers could be the same or different since repro is allowed in standard concours.

Yes that is a service replacement (have a few also :( profile - its shaped differently than the original simple "U" shape - well sort of but very different than the "NOS" one

An original example with the "open" end installed towards the inside of the trunk lid
