Title: Lubricants for 66 manual transmission and rear end
Post by: JimL on July 21, 2014, 08:25:33 AM
I'm trying to get a good cross reference for the Ford spec lubricants ESW-M2C83-B (trans) and ESW-M2C-105-A (rear).
I've read everything from 20w-50 motor oil to 80w-175 gear oil.
What are the correct fluids ?
Thanks for the help.
Jim

I believe you will find that a GL4 80-90 weight oil is correct for the Ford 4 speed transmission.  Maybe google GL4 and GL5 to read about the difference's.  This is what I settled on for my cars.  Brian

I've been using Redline synthetic MT-90 75W90 GL-4 oil in the original T-10 in my 66 GT350 and their 75W90 GL-5 gear oil in the differential for many years, great stuff!
