Title: 69 Vert Quarter window fit issues
Post by: Bill73Ragtop on March 28, 2010, 05:52:54 PM
Anyone have any experience with fit issues with 69 vert quarter windows?

I have a set of new quarter windows  - not NOS ( from PSAUTOGLASS) that I purchased a couple years ago. Can't find the original (really scratched) ones I removed.  I am now re-assembling the quarter windows and am having issues with the quarter window not fitting properly. It seems to be too wide by 3/8" - 1/2". They overlap the stainless trim/seal on the door glass by  3/8" to 1/2"

I've got the top frame (no top yet) locked in position - everything lines up as per specs. Door windows are aligned and set as far forward they will go. Note: I converted from the 69 glue in to the 70 bolt in glass as well as changed regulators. Today I spent 5 1/2 hours screwing around with the passenger side with no luck getting them to fit properly.

If it means anything, these things have labels identifying them as 69 - 70 coupe/ convertible. They were also made in Argentina. PSAUTO part DQ4123.

Any advice or recommendations appreciated.

The 69 and 70 coupe and convertible qtr. glass are different. If you convert to the 70 bolt in glass you need the 70 qtr. glass as well due to the metal trim on the 69 is on the door glass and the 70 it's on the qtr. panel. I would send the aftermarket glass back and get a nice original set of qtr. glass out of a 70 and this should solve your problem. If your interested I have some 70 coupe glass and willing to sell it, I have not looked at it in a long time and I am sure it's not absolutely perfect but still a genuine part that fits. Hope this helps....CHRIS

if you bought them a couple yrs ago that could be a problem....I bought some of the first ones for a 70 fastback from PS ( 3 sets to be exact) and the curvature was all wrong....kept sending back and finally gave up....I assume the ones know are correct?

they had lots of probs on first runs...

Chris, I would be interested - send email to Fd73ragtop@aol.com.  Any chance you can check the measurement of the glass at the widest point.  According to the label, this glass is for both 69 & 70...but we all know what that's worth...

Yeah...I may be out of luck, but I will contact them as a matter of follow-up.  I still have the receipts and the plastic is still on the glass.

After a few emails and phone calls  - thanks go to CobraJetChris and to Peter at NPD -- 69 coupe / conv quarter glass measures 11 1/2" at the wide point.  1970 coupe / conv glass measures 10 3/4".     I contacted PS Auto Glass and they offered to exchange the 69 glass for the 70 glass N/C.  Nice of them since I purchased the glass in 2006.
