rethreading buggered stud on starter
« on: August 01, 2015, 05:31:02 PM »
I discovered the starter I removed from my 67 in 2012 has  the OE Autolite # on it.
The bad news is the power stud has buggered threads.

I'm thinking a 5/16-18 die? Don't have one but Monday to shop.
Has anyone done this?
Sounds more efficient than rebuild.

Considering that the stud is a 5/16-24 thread might be the reason of the "buggery".

5/16-18 was a guess.
Thanks for setting me straight.
