Replacing Driver's Door: 65 Convertible
« on: May 25, 2010, 12:12:44 PM »
I'm replacing the doors on my 65 C-code convertible b/c of speaker hole cut-outs.  I have a near perfect original passenger shell from California.  For the driver's side, I have two good options.  I have media blasted both and protected them with primer. The latch areas are perfect on both

Door One- from California-  Only two or three pin holes in the front corner, but it took at pretty good hit at some point.  The dent was drilled, pulled out, and covered with a layer of bondo.  The inner diagonal support is still bent.  The textured part is very nice, but not perfect.

Door Two- from Virginia.  Probably has about ten pin holes after blasting, but the exterior skin doesn't look like it has any damage.  Most of the pin holes would be covered by the door seal, but one is on the edge.  The rest of it looks perfect.

I'm leaning toward using the second door.  Thoughts? Recommendations?  Thanks.

I would go with the door that has not been damaged.

That's what I'll do.  Thanks, Charles.
