Offered here is a limited, Assembly Line "correct" Reproduction of the 1967-1969 (and possibly later) Distributor Primary (Distributor to Coil) Wire, Part Number C7VY-12216-A.

According to the "Bible" of small blocks, Bob Mannel's "Mustang & Ford Small Block V8 1962-1969", this would be the "Factory correct" wire for all "non-High Performance" 289 and 302 Mustangs from 1967-1969.

Note that the 90° push-on connector for the Coil is Yellow (Factory correct). Unfortunately, the majority of Ford Service Parts for this wire were made with Black (although I have seen some Green) 90° connectors. In addition, the "Repo's" that are available must have used the Service Part as a "guide", as they are also Black. I have never seen a Ford Service Part or other Reproduction of this wire with the connector in the Factory Correct Yellow.

Interestingly, the 1960-68 Ford Master Parts Catalog also shows this C7VY-12216-A wire as correct for 1967 and 1968, 390's, as well as for 1967, 427's and 1968, 428's. Not knowing such details on these engines, I will leave that determination to the "Big-Blockers". To help, I have also attached a picture showing all of the dimensions of this wire.

If any of the "big block people" reading this could confirm or deny that this wire is "Factory Correct" for the "big blocks", it would be appreciated.

Rather than just take what is printed in the MPC as "Gospel", I have left the "big block" suitability of this wire to "those in the know". I say this because, while the MPC shows the C7VY-12216-A wire as correct for 1968, 289 and 302's, it shows that 1967, 289's use the C1VF-12216-A wire. The C1VF wire has a ring(eyelet) connector for connection to the Coil, and requires a nut and lock washer to attach it to the Coil.  Based on Mannel's book and many pictures of un-restored 1967, 289's, we know that the ring connector is not correct ; the correct connector for 1967, 289's is the 90°, yellow push-on connector.

I only have 6 of these currently, so "first come, first served". Of course, if the demand warrants, I can get more made, but that might take a few weeks.

Price is $36 each, including shipping to lower 48. Shipping beyond the Lower 48 may be able to be arranged at additional cost.

PayPal preferred.

Send PM if interested.

Thanks for looking.

Bob

The connector is white for a big block.

These YELLOW end wires were the assemblyline correct for 67-9 small blocks. Service replacements are different lengths (usually) and yes, WHITE was for big block and have a longer wire.

Al and Richard : Thanks for the info on the Big Block Factory Distributor Primary Wire.

We have then found, once again, a Ford Service Part that is "generic" in nature (in this case a Black 90° push-on connector), being used for multiple applications, not being "Factory correct" for any. It's the same old thing of a Service Part performing the same function as the original Factory part, and appearing similar, but not being identical to the original Factory part.

Unfortunately, once again suppliers have elected to reproduce the Service Part instead of the "Factory correct" Assembly Line part.

If there is any interest in the Big Block Distributor Primary Wire with the White 90° connector, I can have these reproduces too. Would just need to know that the dimensions are the same, and how many.

Bob i just measured my nos white big block wire & where your yellow small block lenght is 7 11/16 my nos white big block is 10'' then i measured some of my used originals & they are 9 3/4''  so u have to figure a heat shrink factor on that black wire after 50 years of being under the hood laying on top that hot intake.  Has the white one been made correctly?

specialed : Thanks for your information.

I have not seen any Distributor Primary Wires reproduced with the white 90° connector, much less of the length you noted. (added) : Are the other dimensions I noted for the small block ones the same as your big block originals ?

I just mentioned that I could have them reproduced if there was a demand for such - which it appears there is not. As a matter of fact, it appears that isn't even a demand for the small block ones I had reproduced ; which surprises me. Guess I'll just have to "eat" them.

Thanks again for your Reply.

I thought NPD used to carry the white 90 degree boot BB wire but don't see it now . Mansfield Mustang http://mansfieldmustang.com/EngineElectrical.html    does carry it.
