A/C Compressors. Easy rebuild?
« on: September 23, 2019, 05:48:54 PM »
I was curious if anyone has rebuilt a factory compressor. If so, what are the difficulties?

I successfully rebuilt mine about 35 years ago.  No special tools were required except the homemade oil level dipstick, and I followed the Shop Manual procedures.  I replaced the valve plate, gaskets and crankshaft seal & carbon ring.  I had no piston or cylinder damage, so I didn't have to go any further.  If you can find the parts that you need, its not a bad job at all.
