1967-68 NOS Vintage 7.35-14 Tire - SOLD
« on: June 15, 2020, 03:00:20 PM »
Offered  here for your consideration, is one, NOS, 7.35-14, Firestone "Safety Champion", 5/8" WW tire.
This is being offered for Display Purposes (Trunk Spare) ONLY. This tire should not be used for actual driving purposes due to its age (40+ years).

I picked this up in 1981 or 82, from the second floor of a tire warehouse. It has been stored in an attic ever since, not seeing daylight until now. The tire has never been mounted, and even has some of its original "nibs". As you can see by the attached pictures, the tire does not exhibit any checks or cracks.

The 7.35-14 is correct as a "Standard" Tire for 1967-68 Mustangs with the 390 engine (other than GT's), and as  Optional for all 1967 Mustangs with 289's (both 2V and 4V), and Optional for all 1968 Mustangs with 289's or 302's (both 2V and 4V). I have attached copies from the appropriate Sections of the 1967 and 1968 Salesman's Price Books, and from the 1967 and 1968 Ford Car Facts Books to support this.
Note that neither of the Price Books show the 7.35-14 as Optional for 6 Cylinder Cars, yet both the 1967 and 1968 Fact Books do. So, if you have a 6 Cylinder 1967 or 1968 Mustang, you will have to "make the call" as to whether it is correct or not.

$125.00, Plus UPS Shipping from 68124 (which appears to be approximately $25.00 to each Coast from here).  SOLD

PayPal Friends and Family preferred ; if not, please add $5.00.

Send PM if interested.

Thanks for looking.

Nice tire!
Could you imagine jumping into a brand new 390 Mustang and sliding into a corner with the likes of this kind of rubber?
It's no wonder a good number of big block Mustangs didn't make it past a teenage driver!

Richard : Not only teenagers and Big Blocks back then. When I talked to the Original Owner of my 67 Convertible 4 or 5 years ago (he was 77 then), he had ordered my car with the Wide Ovals , and told me "worst tire I have ever owned. I didn't even get 10,000 miles out of them". He had to have been in his late 20's when he ordered the car. Hmmmm.
