1972 Space saver spare, jack, handle, bottle
« on: February 01, 2011, 03:54:39 PM »
What, if anything, should be stamped on the correct wheel, jack, bottle, and handle for 72 Mach, build date 03/16/72. Should stem be rubber 1", clear plastic cap with slot in top? I don't think the yellow inflator sticker should be present. Is that correct? Should there be any paint daubs, or other markings/decals on any of the parts? All help appreciated.
Chuck
Thanks, Chuck

I wouldn't expect a rubber stem unless it was changed.
If you look at the code on the wheel and it is a 8M WITH rubber that would show BOTH wrong.
If wheel code is a 1M or even 2A (doubt there was production in Jan -do to year end PO) AND it has rubber MAYBE it got changed.

BUT...I think you would be looking MORE for "dual stem" metal anyway.
There are just too many Nissan, AMC and "Granada" SSS being sold for Mustangs.

P.S.  Don't even get me started with the bottles !!  There were so many manufacturer/changes to design that Paint and repro stickers can't hide a Mopar in a Ford !!
