Title: Body stamps decoding - not sure what these mean
Post by: 79mustangcobra on April 02, 2015, 09:55:47 AM
I was looking at my 79 Cobra today and noticed these two stamps under the door uni-body.

Here is the driver side. I have no idea what this means. 92B. Sounds like a radio station.  :)

Here is the passenger side - this one looks like a date. 7-14 2nd shift?  The car was made 8-17-78

Thanks for looking and any info

those are indeed date stamps of when that particular piece was stamped out. keep looking, most sheetmetal has them somewhere. some may be hidden & backwards. all should preceed the build date of the car.

+1 and in this example a panel identification stamp

Date code often does not include anything that identifies the year. In your example Month- day of month - shift - stamping plant
