my understanding is no 68-older Mustang had a RH mirror from factory. Available as a service part, yes...not ever part of any "package" but a Dealership 'may' have put it on pre-delivery. Concours-correct only with original sales records showing installed pre-delivery.
69-up, I do not know for sure (I know, unrelated)

All '69-'73 Cars definitely could have come with from the factory with two painted to match Dual Sport Mirrors (LH being Remote Only). Regular mirrors were also offered as well....but would think a 2nd one of those would have been dealer added.
:o)

Where did you come up with that "fact?
IMHO its incorrect and misleading.
We've kind of gotten off thread
-
Yes, I know that this has now gotten "off thread", but I hate to leave a "hanging chad", so to speak. While my knowledge of 1969-73 Mustangs is limited at best, I can still read. According to the 1969, 71, 72 and 73 (I don't have access to 1970, but would guess that it would "follow suit"), it appears that the Dual, Color-keyed Sport/Racing mirrors were Standard on Mach I's, Grande's and Boss' of those years, and available as Factory Options on all other Models. As I noted, this is based on what is printed in the Sales Brochures (which would explain where Tony got his information), but if in reality there was something that changed this Option, it would be something specific that I would not know about.
Just thought I'd help provide an explanation of where this information could have come from.

Here is a little bit better information on the Dual Sport/ Racing Mirror Option ; Kevin Marti's "Mustang by the Numbers" book indicates that from 1969-71, about half of all Mustangs produced were ordered with the Dual Mirror Option. In 1972, that jumped to over 80%, and in 1973 dropped to just over 70%. With actual numbers from Kevin's book, I think we can now say that it appears that Tony's statement (as well as the Brochures) was correct.

Believe that statement is incorrect. As you mentioned some of your information came from Factory literature which I think we all agree has its share of information was was incorrect, later changed and so on.
First thing to share is that the painted racing mirrors were provided to the assembly plant repainted by the company/plant making them which limited to application.
So two points
Special order exterior paint cars typically received single chrome drivers side remote mirrors during the years when color coded or painted racing mirrors were available and typically standard on certain models. So you can't really say "all cars" since this was common practice and not a one off or individual choice by Ford, the plant or the buyer.
During at least 69 Boss 302's that same mirror was not standard. Kevin has included the painted racing mirrors in the list of options (not standard equipment) on his reports for a number of years and there have been a fair number of cars documented without this option

Jeff : I think it was a good decision to move this part regarding '69 up mirrors to a separate thread. However, Replies 6 and 7 should also have been moved "over here", between new Replies 3 and 4.
In regard t6o your most recent Reply, are you saying that Tony's statement should have said that "All '69-73 cars, except those with "Special paint, could be ordered with the Dual, Color-keyed Sport Mirrors..." ?
All in all, according to Kevin's numbers, it seems that a large number of 1969-73 Mustangs were ordered with the Dual Color-keyed Sport Mirrors.

Will check those replies and move them if appropriate - thanks

No not sure that even that would be correct. At this point there may be more exceptions but at this point what you posted may be correct. Need to do some more research and fact checking
