I have noted some of the recent posting regarding the FMX detailing. In both examples they were for 60-70 applications. In completing my 72 FMX I left the dipstick tube natural. In the 69-70 examples it was painted early ford light blue. MCA Judging rules mention the handle, but not the tube. Does anyone have a definitive on the tube?
MCA Rules:
H. Engine Components to be Natural: Bell housing (may have blue overspray), accelerator linkage, distributor hold-down bracket and automatic transmission dipstick handle.

If it had a paint color it would have still been on the tube, IMHO. These early tubes were some aqua/light blue color. I think they colored them for usage.

You start seeing the tubes being marked with only a daub/dot and the dipsticks being marked also with a matching color starting in 71 from what I've seen and collected.
Not allot of research has been put into the FMX restoring and unfortunately I can't find anything at the moment that indicates what color would have been used on a 1972 FMX. In every picture of a nice low mileage example those wide shock tower reinforcements are in the way.
All we know is that it wasn't marked with yellow that was for a different application
Sorry
