Title: Primer Paint Question. Help please!
Post by: hellomrwilson on November 14, 2019, 11:50:20 AM
I'm a noob and need guidance please.
I have sanded my removed parts of our car body to metal (hood, trunk, front and rear valances, head light and tail light extensions, etc.), used Rage filler in some small areas then sprayed T-Rex Epoxy Primer/Sealer to protect the metal and body work.
I then sprayed some Speedkote high build urethane primer. I sanded that and... I sprayed some rattle can rustoleum primer sealer onto a few pieces with intent to wet sand prior to paint.
What I'm nervous about is the rustoleum being a modified alkyd. The paint I plan on using is a single stage acrylic urethane. Will my paint job be a disaster because of the rustoleum?

I would not use the rustoleum under your paint. I would highly recommend using all same companies products on your finish. They are engineered to work together. At least use good sprayable products at a minimum. I only use rustoleum or krylon on small parts or such. Never on body work & paint.

Modern part nt is usually part of a host of products that need to be used together. Its best not to mix them
