Title: Wiring harness and vacuum hose clips
Post by: Muneratto on April 05, 2021, 11:57:29 PM
Hello guys,

I'm trying to figure out how many D-clips and lower radiator support clips are correct,as well as their locations.

I found this picture but it does not seem to be accurate - it shows 6x D-clips and 4x front clips on the lower radiator support but I don't trust. Any better reference on this matter?

Thanks in advance.
Thiago Muneratto.

It's 100% accurate. There are at least two sizes of D clips since the windshield washer hose only goes through some of them. The larger sized ones are not being reproduced as they are Cougar only. Same goes for the four on the front frame cross member.

WCCC or Critter Creek have originals in stock usually.

BTW the image that you posted correctly shows seven D clips. Six are in the engine compartment. One is just behind the firewall in the passenger compartment as seen in your drawing.

Thank you Royce!

I'm kind of surprised, honestly have never seen for instance the D-clip shown right in front of the shock tower in any Cougar picture on the internet (I even thought it would colide with the windshield washer reservoir and also not shown in the Cougar One pics as far as I remember).

Again, thanks for the help.

The one on the shock tower next to the valve cover is the one that is usually broken or missing. It is easily broken especially in cars like the XR7-G with an FE. The tall Shelby American cast aluminum valve covers are right next to that one.

The one next to the windshield washer bottle is usually there as it is rather well hidden and harder to damage.

Thank you Royce!

Hi Guys,

What is the source of that diagram?  Is that just a scan of the Shop Manual?  It appears very helpful.

Hi! That picture I got from WCCC store site, it's one of the reference pictures of the vacuum hose kit sold there:
