underdash wiring question
« on: April 26, 2010, 12:24:21 AM »
I am restoring a mid April San Jose fastback.   The question is the wire that drops down out of the main underdash harness and runs to the automatic shifter, is it routed on top of the firewall pad, or does it run behind the firewall pad?  If the wire runs on top of the pad, is there any kind of retainer or guide?
                                      Thanks,   Doug

That wire typically runs behind the firewall pad.  Sometimes a plastic loop clip with a small screw is used to hold it in place.

Here's a picture of my 66 convertible with pad pulled back. Plastic loop clip attached to firewall.
