1967 - 289 Engine Dress Up Kit - C7OZ-6980-A
« on: January 01, 2016, 03:33:17 PM »
All advertisement pictures that I have ever seen of a 1967 Engine Dress Up Kit seem to show only one for a 390. The 1960-68 MPC lists the parts that are included in the Kit. For the Air Cleaner in particular, it shows the C5ZZ-9600-W (the same one used on the High Performance 289), and a C5OZ-9600-A, noted "(alternate)". I have not been able to find the C5OZ-9600-A listed in the 1967 only, the 1960-68, nor the 1965-72 MPC's. I did find it in the 1975 OSI book as being replaced by a C3DZ air cleaner, which has a blue lid.
Could the C5OZ-9600-A have been the "standard" air cleaner lid, only chrome plated ? It seems like I have seen pictures of 67 Engines with what appears to be "Dress Up Kits", only with what appears to be the "standard" lid only chrome plated. Of course this could have been done by the  "Owner", and not part of an "Official" Kit.
Any help would be appreciated.

Might be confusion of the Sprint air cleaner lid  or owner installed Sprint lids

Just a possibility. Don't think the part number would represent both painted and chromed lids
