1967 Dash fitment. Commonly poor?
« on: April 25, 2016, 02:17:29 AM »
I am starting re-assembly on my Shelby's dash. The cluster doesn't seem to want to seat completely flush to the dash on the left side. Is this a common issue that requires fitting for the heater control panel? It has a very small gap, and I can't seem to see anything that would keep it from seating.

Original, re-chromed. I also went and borrowed a reproduction. Same issue. The cluster is straight. I thought about the process causing an issue. It was done by Vacuum Ornamental in Michigan,

I seem to recall a few cars having a shim stock behind the heater control mounting at the upper end.

Maybe post a picture of the fitment issue? Dash pad shrinkage (original pads) can cause some issues too, very common.

The left hand side where the lower screw goes, as well as the left speedometer ring doesn't fit as well as I'd like.
