Y or H Pipe Elevation?
« on: August 21, 2010, 11:04:00 AM »
I have looked at many concourse cars and wondered if the exhaust is suppose to TUCK" up into the transmission crossmeber?

Well...the new, clear Martha and the Vandellas video clearly shows on this C-code car, at 1:14, that the Y pipe is at least 1/2 way into the arched sections of the xmsn crossmember.

That tells me that the aftermarket H and Y pipes are too tall.   I'm having mine Jett-Hotted hotted so I'm going to shorten the diagonal sections by cutting out  about 2" , rewelding, and grinding smooth.  Then ceramic coatng.

Just something we have to deal with when replacement parts are made.  Some are good, some are bad.  Most of them require some sort of tweaking or modification to get to fit and function like original.
