8" Rearend '67 vs '72 differences

Hi,
I have a question if there are any differences between the 8" rear that would have come with my 1967 GTA convertible and a 1972.

My original rear (pictured) has some pits in the metal so I a found someone willing to sell one "from a 1972" that is in better condition. He says there are no differences.

Is he correct, or should I keep looking?

I do believe you will find that the housing is wider, so I certainly would NOT assume it as "the same".
