A method for removing Holley(R) bowl vent tubes
« on: December 24, 2021, 01:01:18 PM »
It is not rare to have a Holley(R) 4150/4160 carburetor main body with a damaged bowl vent tube. Removing a damaged tube you plan on discarding is easy. Removing an excellent used vent tube without damaging it of the carburetor body is a little tougher. This might be done prior to refinishing the body or harvesting good parts from a low value core carburetor to repair or restore a rarer carburetor.

One method I have is to use an appropriate sized plastic screw anchor and screw to grip the tube softly from the inside and then pull it out by the screw head.

I like it. Your method just solved my quandary on pulling a steel sleeve from a wooden frame.

This method also works for other tubes.
I replaced the tubes on my water pump by tight fitting a steel insert into the tube and then heating the body with an oxy/act torch.
A pipe wrench to loosen and curved jaw vice grips to remove.

Trying to grab the the tube without the insert results in a squished tube mess.
