New member introduction
« on: November 29, 2014, 10:42:48 AM »
Hello members,

I just joined this forum and thought I'd introduce myself.  I hope this is correct forum section to do introductions.

My San Jose built 1967 C-code coupe is a one family car.  It was ordered by my father, who purchased it new in December 1966 from Fred Hauter Ford, Montrose CA; DSO 71/L.A.  The car has all of the emissions equipment still intact (my dad used to sweat the CA smog checks!).

I am very impressed with the knowledge of members here.  From time to time I'll no doubt have questions or comments.

Welcome.
Post some pictures if you can. Your car being a one owner, in your family since new, will be a huge help to others with similar cars looking to get the details right. Don't worry at all if it's not perfect, or "good enough". We are more interested in originality. Pictures of an untouched car are worth their weight in gold to us! Don't forget a shot of the data plate as well, thanks for joining up!

Great to have another '67 guy around, welcome.
I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.

Few upgrades and fixes like any Mustang that has seen such good service over the years. Thanks for sharing - you found the right forum :)

For others out of California its hard to explain when cars with what is considered allot of miles look better than 30K mile cars from their region. Got to loved it.

Beautiful! Your family has preserved and respected the car well over the years. That's an amazing amount of mileage. Looks like 17 mile drive in Monterey in the background??

Wow!  500K miles on that one looks like just a few tens of thousands in Minnesota……... ;D
Fantastic shape.

Thanks for the nice comments and yes, the car has had good care & upkeep and always garaged.  The capacitive discharge ignition setup was installed in the late 1970s to extend the life of plugs and points; and it's kind of a nice period-piece in its own right.  (With all of the engine accessories including the Thermactor, A/C and P/S system, spark plugs aren't the easiest to replace).

Engine, transmission and rear end have all been rebuilt over the years.  Several times, my dad would take the job back and insist that the repair be done correctly.  For example, the rear end ratio was noticeably different after a third member replacement; turns out, a lower ratio ring gear and pinion was fitted and he made the shop correct it to the original factory 2.80 gears.

I have a question about engine rebuild / replace which I will post separately.

Yes, it's Carmel Bay picture taken this morning.  17 Mile Drive is around the point, to the north.

Thanks again,
Deuce
