Title: Shallow vs Deep Sport Wheel covers
Post by: nham3407 on July 05, 2011, 02:30:51 PM
It is my understanding that there were different configurations of the Sport Wheel cover for 70 vs 71 - 73.  the 71-73 is described as the shallow wheel cover and the 1970 is descibed as deep.  Is that just the depth of the trim ring?  By the way, I am just focusing on the 14" wheel covers.  How can I verify I have the shallow or the deep?  If someone knowingly has the shallow do you have the dimensions I could use to verify against for the depth?

Thank you

The "shallow" covers  fit the 14x6 rims, the "deep" covers fit the 14x7 rims and won't fit the the shallower rims at all. Additionally, the 71-up covers centers  are painted silver vs dark argent for a 70. The hole for the valve stem changes shape in 71 to more rounded ends on the slot but some people feel that this was a late 70 running  change. If I can find some shallow ones n my stuff, I'll post some dimentions for you....
