66 Hertz Radiator
« on: October 15, 2015, 08:57:36 PM »
What should the engineering numbers be on the top of the tank of. A 66 Hertz car, automatic transmission? Also the approx date code as well on a car shipped to hertz around mid March. The top of the tank my dad currently has only the W MO but a date code of 4 66. No other numbers stamped.

That's it, same as my Oct 65 San Jose build 66 GT K Fastback with a C4, "W-MO" and dated "9 65". On mine the stamping reads upside down from the front.

Phased out in late 65 and on the W-MO radiators a soldered on tag with the engineering number . Dearborn and Metuchen had them metal stamped on the side straps.

The soldered on tag would read C4ZE-8005-M2 . You can get one from AMK and solder it on if missing.

Thanks Jeff, based on the VIN I gave you on his car, is the 12-65 the best date code to get or is there another in-between?

Since you have an automatic its going to make it allot easier (in comparison to manuals) so I would look for a 1-66 or even 2-66. Your VIN is right near the end of a group of a half dozen 1-66 radiator cars and before and just after a couple of 2-66 cars. Change is likely due to the fact that the cars were not (at San Jose either) order ;)

Believe 12-65 would be too early for yours

Thanks for sharing the partial VIN - makes these answers a whole lot easier to estimate
