Title: 67-68 tail light bezel differences
Post by: 67gta289 on March 24, 2019, 10:12:46 AM
I noticed that the January 67 MPC lists C7ZZ-13489-A, but the June 68 MPC lists:

C7ZZ-13489-A "before 4/17/67"
C7ZZ-13489-B "from 4/17/67"
C8ZZ-13489-A for 1968

Is anyone aware of the differences in the two 1967 versions of the bezels?

By 1972 the MPC lists only the C8ZZ-13489-A for both model years

That is a new one for me. I have no idea of what the difference could be.

As noted in the subject of this Topic, we also need to address the difference(s) between the C7ZZ's and the C8ZZ's. The first attached picture is of an NOS C7ZZ-13489-A Service Part and the second picture is of an NOS C8ZZ-13489-A Service Part. By the pictures, I don't see the difference. What am I not seeing ? Both have the gasket and the studs.

Another item of interest is that while the 1960-68 MPC shows the change from the C7ZZ-A to the C7ZZ-B as being 4/17/67, the July 1967 OSI Catalog does not show ant change from the "-A" to the "-B". This change is, however, shown in the July 1968 OSI Catalog. Further, the July 1969 OSI Catalog shows the C7ZZ -B as being R/B (Replaced By) the C8ZZ-A.

Bob, the 67 version is all chrome, no black paint.  The 68 has a "groove" that is painted black.

So you are saying (confirming) that they are identical otherwise?

Is there any difference in the contour of the grooved area?  It looks like there might be in the pictures, but again hard to tell.

John : I thought that the black/charcoal color was the difference, but when I first looked at the picture of the C7ZZ, it appeared to be black also. In looking at it again, in the upper RH corner of the picture of the C7ZZ that I posted, one can clearly see that it is unpainted there.

The answers are in the details - I need to look closer next time (or maybe put on my reading glasses).

Thanks,

Bob

The C7ZZ version of the taillight bucket is riveted together, not sure of the difference between the A and B.  The C8ZZ taillight bucket is screwed together and can be separated easily.
