73 Mustang AC tag
« on: July 18, 2020, 03:47:18 PM »
Hi gang! I have an easy one today. My question is concerning whether there should be a tag on the AC compressor on my 73 Mustang? A 351 CJ by the way. Where does it go,does it get one, or did I but a part that I don't need?   Thanks

Easy answer.

Take a look in the unrestored picture section:

Picture EC-1 shows a tag on the front of the compressor to the right of the clutch.

unfortunately that same area on these two cars are covered with an oil cooler.

attached is a pic from 3F01F217xxx and you can see the silver colored tag behind the oil cooler.

I have no close-ups.  Someone else might.

Yes the pump would have a ID tag with the makers name, serial number and other information that identified it for warranty and other purposes.

You will have to find one from a donor car since I don't believe they are reproduced

Sorry no clear pictures of one on a compressor and all the ones in the cars have the PS cooler in the way :(

I looked through my collection of 73 unrestored and found no better shot of this tag (for better details or stamping information), I can only see it is as already pictured...too far away and obscure to make out the finer details.
