Thanks for posting, soaked in evaporust?

Would you possibly be able to post a picture of the full drive-shaft.

Also, what engine/trans combination and what body style?

Driveshaft is original from a May 65 Factory GT fastback with an A code 289 and 4 speed Trans
Shaft was soaked in evaporust for 4 days
Notice the 5E could be coincidental also notice the brush Dab marks

Interesting.  Mine had the same sort of lime green looking stripe and the other one looked like pink/salmon (I restored it as salmon).  What color do you think that second stripe is on yours?

Also, my stripes were close together and stencil was 4S.  A little confusing to me that these would be that different on my 9/65 built SJ 4-speed A code GT.

Just one of the reasons we always ask when the car was built ;)  driveline (from documents and examples) markings can change up to four times during a production year for the same application

For the last two of the stencil (though to be a date or worker id) I've got

4E, 4S, 4W, 5S, 5W, ll, lll, llW

Got a bunch

A bit hard to see but here's another stripe spacing from a 65 Dearborn A code coupe, April build date.

Here's the notes I took when I took my MAR 1966 Metuchen C-Code driveshaft out of the Evap-O-Rust.  The weld at the rear had school-bus yellow paint all around sloppily.  The 1st stripe was a 1" approx white stripe about 5/8" from the weld.  Then at about 6 5/8" from the weld it had a 3/4" wide mint-green stripe.  The front yoke had a very dark grayish blue coating in a lot of spots but I couldn't tell where the original stop line was.  At 31 3/8" was where the yellow stenciled markings were.  Then there was a couple of places at the front where school-bus yellow and light blue paint was (as shown)

Mine had internal c-clip u-joints at front and rear.

Starting to restore the driveshaft that I posted a couple of pics some time ago
When starting to sand the tube found the letters (AS) stamped in 3 positions along the tube
Any ideas on what they might mean

Haven't noticed stampings like that.  Maybe owner/shop identification?

Sanded a few of these and have not seen anything similar - will keep and eye open for them in the future
